Victoria Antoci, an astrophysicist with a PhD from the University of Vienna, specializes in stellar astrophysics and asteroseismology. She has served as a postdoctoral researcher and assistant professor at the Stellar Astrophysics Centre, Aarhus University. As the project scientist and manager for Aarhus University’s first satellite, Delphini-1, Victoria provided educational opportunities for numerous students. Launched from the International Space Station in January 2019, Delphini-1 functioned both as a proof-of-concept and an educational mission.
Currently a senior researcher at DTU Space, Victoria focuses on observational stellar structure and evolution, utilizing data from ground-based and space observatories, including NASA’s Kepler and TESS missions. She delves into the study of stars and their variability and is actively involved in space instrumentation and space missions.
In June 2024, she will commence her recently awarded ERC consolidator grant project, MAGNIFY, aiming to deepen our understanding of internal and surface magnetic fields in stars.
Apart from her scientific endeavors, Victoria is a fervent advocate for gender equity in academia. She co-founded the Gender Equity Committee at the Stellar Astrophysics Centre (AU), which later served as a model at the departmental level. Additionally, she is an active member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Forum at DTU Space, promoting inclusivity, and has consistently mentored students throughout her career.
The prize committee will select a winner who will be announced at an award ceremony at the KIF Annual Meeting on June 4th, 2024 taking place at Aud. A, Niels Bohr Institute, Blegdamsvej 17, 2100 Copenhagen.
The winner will be notified in writing in advance and invited to give a talk following the ceremony.
